I was so excited to take baby Grant's photos! The first time I showed up, he was a little fussy and we tried valiantly to calm him down, but he would have none of it. A week or two later, I returned for a second attempt. All the pieces came together and Grant was mellow and chill. It's a great feeling to walk away from a shoot and know you got some wonderful images...especially when the first shoot didn't go as planned!
I seem to have taken an abundant number of photographs of Grant's little feet. (But, can you blame me? They're adorable.) Beginner's mistakes, perhaps...this was my very first infant photo shoot! I've learned a lot already and can't wait to do more baby photography in the future.
Codi and Kyle, you'll receive your finished photos in the mail this week!

Introducing the Kennedy Family! -- Photography in Milford, Nebraska
The weekend before Christmas I had the privilege of taking photos of the Kennedy family -- Randy, Rhonda, and their four children, Sam, Katie, Sarah and Anna. I met Randy and Rhonda several years ago, and have gotten to know them again as they started attending the same church Justin and I go to.
I was really loving this monochrome color as I processed and edited the photographs. As I sorted my choices for the blog, I realized most of my top favorites for the blog had this toning! So I decided to show you only the monochrome ones. To be sure, the Kennedys will be receiving many photographs in full color -- I'm not going all monochrome on you guys. But for something a little different, I really love this color right now. It worked so well with the wooden floors, and the light texture of knit sweaters...and it also emphasized all those bright cheery eyes!
This is little Anna. She is very new and wasn't too keen on being out of Mom's arms. We didn't as many photos of her as we'd hoped, but the few we did capture are precious.

Renewal of Wedding Vows - my awesome parents!

I am so proud of my parents. A couple of weeks ago they celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary! In honor of their "27 on 27," they renewed their marriage promises to each other in a small, intimate ceremony. A pastor from their church said a few words, and then everyone ate cake and fruit. It was simple and meaningful. My parents are an amazing example of what marriage -- commitment, sacrifice, loyalty, love -- should, and can, be. So here's to you, Mom and Dad - I've said it before, but I am SO thankful for the lessons you've taught us, just by living your lives.
They didn't exactly set aside a lot of time for photos, so I got them to 'pose' just a few minutes before the guests showed up. Don't I have great-looking parents?? My mom is just gorgeous...

Erik and Molly's Wedding Photos at Lincoln's State Capitol
I'm so excited to show you these photos from Molly and Erik's recent wedding in the Rotunda of the State Capitol! Molly and I both work in this beautiful building. The Rotunda is an awe-inspiring place to be married. Not unlike a those of a church, the towering ceiling and sandy stone walls evoke somber and weighty thoughts.

The light poured in from hundreds of feet above as Erik and Molly's small group of family and close friends surrounded them. Their ceremony was brief, intimate and very meaningful.
