My brother is getting married in June. He and his fiancee asked me to take their engagement photos. Not that I'm super experienced or anything, but it promises to be fun once the weather starts cooperating. I had one print done at Walgreens (I know, the true mark of a professional) just so we could see the coloring and stuff in print (computer screens are deceiving). We had some trouble picking it up because the Walgreens employees thought we were trying to illegally reproduce photos taken by a professional. I showed the apathetic employee my drivers' license, he was like "whatever" and made me sign a copyright release. So weird. But he said, in a bland, 18-year-old-making-$6-an-hour tone, "your pictures are kinda good, maybe you should be a photographer." You never know when a trip to the drugstore will enlighten you to your true purpose in life. A call to excellence from a bored Walgreens employee should never be taken lightly.
I guess I should post some pictures! These are a couple of the new ones I uploaded to Etsy this week. I took them on the way home from our ski trip. I was kind of depressed that 3 days in Colorado passed without me getting any very good pictures. But as the sun set and the Honda skimmed along the interstate, I took some awesome (I think) motion-blur photos. Enjoy!

What do you think about having a 35mm 1.8 as my only lens (for a while at least)? Something I'm considering...
that'd be awesome. my camera is either 35 or 55 at its longest, and f/2.8. i love it. the 1.8 would give you awesome closeup shots and also allow you to take great low-light pictures, like concerts, weddings and such.
i do wish i had a longer one, especially when i want to take pictures of people. maybe that's why i don't really like photographing people - because i can't get "in their face" so to speak without actually getting into their face with my short little lens. if you like to focus on faces/expressions, you need a longer lens. depends on what you like to shoot. but if you only use one lens, i have heard it's also better for both your camera sensor and your lens - when you switch them out, it gets more dust in there.
oh and i keep meaning to ask...is this justin or laura millhouse? i'm never quite sure... :)
...never mind about that, i know it's Justin now. :) doesn't laura have a blog too though?
I do like these pictures a lot. They are very cool and would look good as abstract art on someone's wall in the future... Plus, I was able to see you delight in your picture taking. :)
